I just published a new comic.

The Last Days of Evol House is a 32-page comic set in the world of Jesse Holden and my graphic novel series Incredible Doom. It focuses on Ethan, the younger brother of one of the denizens of the small midwestern punk house known as "Evol House", where our heroes from Incredible Doom spent most of their story.

Evol House was a scene people cared about, a place where folks found themselves, and a purpose in life. But that was a while ago.

Blue-toned illustration: two hundreds of folks watch an outdoor punk house show night. Above them, zines, cassettes, flyers, and band merch swirl through a starry sky.

This new story focuses on Ethan, an easy kid, the one nobody worries about. He comes back to Edgefield to find the bank is moving to demolish the famed punk house his brother, Gerbil, and Gerbil's friends built their legend around.

What unfolds is a story about honoring things past and getting to choose where you place value. It's about brotherhood, and friendship, found family, and just a touch of the early internet.

Blue-toned illustration: two teenagers crouch behind cover, watching silhouetted people celebrate near a house and a backhoe across an open field.
Blue-toned illustration: a demolition scene. A man sits on a backhoe; young people stand amid debris while workers in hard hats unload a dump truck.

While it's set in the same small fictional place as the Incredible Doom books, it's not a continuation of that story. You don't need to have read anything else. A couple of minor characters from the graphic novels appear but the story is completely self-contained.

I think you'll like it.

The full finished comic is on Patreon now. Members can read it today. Joining gets you access to the full comic plus lots of other Incredible Doom stories.

I'm glad this one exists. It had been a while, and it was good to go back.
